KARREN Brady, John Simpson and Alexander Armstrong are to feature in a new annual business event for the Humber on the final day of Humber Business Week 2017.

Brady and Simpson will be keynote speakers at The Business Day, a new business networking event to be staged at Bridlington Spa in June, with comedian, actor, quiz show host, singer, adventurer and presenter Armstrong acting as host and chair of a debate element covering local, national and international current affairs.

The event, to be held at Bridlington Spa on Friday, June 9, is being sponsored by East Riding Council, Hull City Council, the University of Hull, KCOM, Welcome to Yorkshire, Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Sewell Group.

Popular for her appearances on BBC TV show The Apprentice, Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge CBE is a leading voice, contributor and commentator on business affairs and news programmes, and one of the world's most sought-after speakers on subjects ranging from leadership to teamwork.

BBC world affairs editor John Simpson CBE is a journalist, broadcaster, columnist and accomplished author. He has reported from 140 countries and interviewed about 200 world leaders, including Mikhail Gorbachev, Vladimir Putin and Margaret Thatcher.

Andrew Aldis, general manager of Bridlington Spa, told the Hull Daily Mail:  "Being the only venue able to host more than 650 delegates for business networking events, Bridlington Spa has created The Business Day as an all-new approach to this format.

"We have avoided the usual need to herd delegates from one item to the next but rather allow them to tailor their personal itinerary to suit themselves.

"Keynote speakers will present from the theatre stage while the Royal Hall will be dedicated to the event's main sponsors and networking; along with a selection of additional elements yet to be announced."

Councillor Stephen Parnaby, leader of East Riding Council, said: "A large business event, coinciding with the end of Humber Bizweek, has been missing from the annual programme for the past year and I'm excited and proud to be part of the team developing this powerful new event.

"Working jointly with The Business Day's main sponsors has allowed us to confidently build around the concept of business networking but include a top-tier line-up of speakers, too."
