Online development specialists deliver a complete digital experience for 2017 Humber Business Week delegates

Two of the region’s leading specialist online companies have donated their time and expertise to ensure a complete digital experience for Humber Business Week 2017, as a new website and app have been launched.

Willerby-based Arrival Design, who have provided support as communications partners for the week for the past three years, have designed and developed a new website, donating their time free of charge to deliver a major online improvement for the Humber business community.

Software developers StyleTech Solutions have also leant their support to the week again, updating the Humber Business Week App for this year’s event, having developed the platform initially last year.

With the new website fully responsive to adapt to all hand-held devices, and the App bringing an interactive element to proceedings during the week though competitions and social media activity, Business Week chair Kath Lavery opportunities to make the most of the week, from June 5-9, are greater than ever for all companies.

She also praised both businesses for going ‘above and beyond’ in their role as event supporters, providing their skills and time pro-bono for the benefit of the wider business community.

Arrival Design, which was established 12 years ago, has an impressive client list for its website build, design and PR services, including national customers Hollywood Bowl, Scotland-based Compass Chambers, Hudgell Solicitors and sports stars including golfers Lee Westwood, 2016 Golf Masters champion Danny Willet, European Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke and England cricket captain Joe Root.

StyleTech Solutions, based at the Shine Knowledge and Innovation Park in Hull, are bespoke software development specialists, boasting major national clients including the NHS, UK Trade & Investment and Ideal Standard, alongside many smaller local business.

“Here we have two local, successful yet relatively small businesses who have gone well above and beyond the call of duty to provide all event holders and delegates of Business Week with the digital platforms to help ensure the week is as successful as can be,” said Mrs Lavery.

“Given the demands on businesses in current times, and the need to serve customers alongside work such as this, it is a tremendous gesture and very much in-keeping with the spirit of Humber Business Week and the themes of inspiring, educating and sharing skills and knowledge for the benefit of all.

“The new website was offered to us by Arrival Design as they simply felt the old site, which had not been modified for years and was not suitable for mobile and tablets was not in-keeping with the Humber Business Week brand, reputation and status. The new website certainly has clearly changed that.

“Styletech first delivered the App last year, in a very tight timescale, and have re-launched it for 2017 bringing many more benefits and improvements which we will see during the week. Wherever you are and whenever you want information of our festival of business, it will be available at the touch of a button.”

For the first time, organisers have decided against producing a full glossy brochure of the week, instead believing digital platforms to be more suited. A small printed guide to the week will be produced and circulated close to the event.

Communications lead Paul Baxter, of Arrival, said: “Quite simply Business Week event holders and delegates now all look online for their information. We have looked to ensure all information is available at the touch of a button in 2017, from checking the week schedule and booking on events to keeping up with the latest news.

“There is usually a huge surge in bookings in the first few weeks of May, and we hope these changes will see more events than ever being filled to capacity in 2017.”

Organisers say the Humber Business Week schedule is the ‘strongest and most exciting yet’

Beginning with the traditional Bondholder Breakfast Launch at the University of Hull on Monday, June 5, followed by the Institute of Directors Humber Luncheon, at which singer Midge Ure, of Ultravox, Band Aid and Live Aid fame is keynote speaker,

Other events confirmed include the Bank of England’s ‘outlook for the economy’ and The Hull Lifestyle Awards, which will recognise the organisations and personalities making an outstanding contribution to the city and announced its shortlist last week.

Hull 2017 has confirmed its involvement with its ‘Celebrating Arts and Business’ event, held at Humber Street Gallery to examine the positive impact business and art partnerships can have.

The week will be completed on Friday, June 9, with the newly introduced ‘The Business Day’, at Bridlington Spa.

The new networking-based event has been spearheaded by East Riding Council with key business supporters including Bridlington Spa, the University of Hull, KCOM, Sewell Group and Welcome to Yorkshire. It boasts speakers including Baroness Karren Brady, BBC World Affairs Editor John Simpson and Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Gary Verity.

This year also sees two ‘Growth Hub’ events, staged on both banks of the Humber, being led by the Humber LEP and aimed at removing the barriers for small businesses to stage sessions as part of the week.
