Driving Humber Forward presents 'Is Technology Killing Jobs?'

8.30am until 10.30am
Mariner Suite, Country Park Inn, Cliff Road, Hessle, HU13 0HB

Driving Humber Forward is a series of Business Events focusing on regional economic development.

Throughout modern history there has been a recurrent fear that jobs will be destroyed by technology. Many know the story of the Luddites, bands of workers who smashed up machinery in the textile industry in the second decade of the 19th century.

The Luddites were wrong. There has been wave after wave of technological advance since the first Industrial Revolution, and yet more people are working than ever before.

Smailes Goldie and Emmerson Kitney are hosting another insightful ‘Driving Humber Forward’ event as part of ‘Humber Business Week’ with Host, Andy Parkinson, Chair of Marketing Humber delivered by Bondholders along with a panel of specialists in manufacturing and technology which is sure to make for an interesting debate.

Panellists include: Helen Villamuera - Operations Manager at Siemens Gamesa, June Smith - Regional External Affairs Manager at EEF (The Manufacturers’ Association), Bruce Margetts - Managing Director at Bericap and President of the British Plastics Federation, and Elaine Lancaster - Technical Director at Ideal Boilers.

Register today to join us on Tuesday 5th June to discuss if technology is killing jobs and have your say!
