“The Kid Done Good” #Hullicons
12.30pm - 2.30pm
Sewell Studio, Sewell Group, Geneva Way, Leads Road, Hull HU7 0DG
Join us at Sewell Group Studio with our host, Rt Hon Alan Johnson, and some special guests, who will be revealed as icons and role models of social mobility in our area.
Together, we will examine and celebrate the national Social Mobility Pledge - www.socialmobilitypledge.org - pioneered by Rt Hon Justine Greening MP, who will join us on the day.
Organisations will have the opportunity to publicly sign the pledge with her, providing their backing to tackle the growing challenge of social mobility across the UK.
Some of Hull’s leading lights will tell their inspirational “Kid Done Good” stories, taking you on a journey from their humble beginnings and tough hurdles, to how they turned it into success and positivity, demonstrating how social mobility is an indicator and a catalyst to a successful economy and community.
“Britain should be a country where you can get on in life, regardless of your background. Improving social mobility is a defining challenge for us as a nation. We have talent spread evenly across this great country, but opportunity isn’t. Businesses, with the prosperity and careers they create for people, are key to improving social mobility.” - Rt Hon Justine Greening MP
