"See you in the Future"- Why your business should be engaging with primary school children

Aspirations are formed as early as 7 years old, with gender stereotypes around jobs being evident as young as 5. So why do so many businesses choose to work with young people when they are in secondary school and beyond?

There may be some children in secondary school who are absolutely sure that your sector isn’t for them, purely because they haven’t had a chance to see it. And by secondary school, this opinion is very difficult to change.

This is why Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University has have a scheme called “C U in the Future” which gives companies the opportunity to inspire children from the earliest possible age, so that they have a greater knowledge of the paths that they can take and the careers that our region has to offer.

Rose James, CEO of the charity, will give an insight into how the scheme works, the experiences that have already been created at over 20 businesses, how it can help with staff engagement and how it can help you to plant the seeds in the next generation of your workforce. You will also hear from one of the charity’s longest standing partners, KCOM, who will demonstrate how valuable engaging with primary aged children has been to their business.

Parking is available in the car parks next to the Connexin Arena.
